Preparations..

Was busy throughout last week getting ready for the trip. That is to say I relaxed and slept like hell. All the shoppings going to be done tomorrow and the day after. In between that I'm calling up most of my friends from time to time. Still got tons to do before I leave...

And thats exactly what I heard the other day when I switched on my computer. My UPS exploded !! Well, not perhaps like the explosions that you would see in Hollywood movies nowadays. ( Transformers comes to my mind when I think of machines and explosions. ) This was more of a long craaack and a pffftt in the end. But it sure made me jump up. He was already a proud veteran having survived a lightning strike before albeit a bit knocked up. So I decided the time had come to lay this old timer to rest and to get a new one pronto.
The new guy was smaller and sleeker and I connected him up but the manual said that it needed to be charged for atleast 12 hours before you start using it for the first time. So i plugged it in and fidgeted around for about 4 hours after which I basically lost control and just went ahead and switched it on. The moment I switched on the power button of computer I was treated to an even bigger display of fireworks than the one seen before. Something inside my CPU cabinet just went bonkers. I switched off the mains immediately. The sweet smell of fried computer parts came to me. Well I think my SMPS, if not more has been totally fried. And its going to stay like that atleast for 5 days because only then will my father be here to take it for repairs.
So in the mean time I'm using my mobile phone to satisfy my basic online needs. The thing is that in every Nokia phone there's the red button, used for cutting calls, but which, if u press any other time, will exit whatever application immediately and bring you to the main screen. I'm not saying that its a bad thing but when you are typing along a really long post, which you havent saved along the way, and you accidentally brush your hands over the goddamned button.....
By the way its been raining incessantly for the past five days. My plans to stay fit seems to be going up in smoke. The other day when I went to the city the major roads were mostly knee deep in water.
As of now only 14 more days till I leave for Bangalore. Can't say I'm not feeling a bit tense....

The trip back to my old school was something quite memorable. The look on the teacher's faces when I told them that I've finished my engineering course and will be starting to work next month was something i'll never forget. Another surprising thing was that every single person who had been around there the time I studied in school remembered me. From the gardener to the office staff to even teachers who have never even taught me. All of it just made me realize how even the simplest of actions can bring so much joy to others. I will never forget that day..

I think the introvert-extrovert graph is spot on with me being in the middle and not belonging to any of the extremes. The other dominant thing is the Thinking part which also I can say is me.

Along with the results they also showed certain famous personalities who share the same type. The most notable among them were Richard Feynman, Tom Hanks, Alfred Hitchcock and Matthew Perry ( Well, I can certainly associate myself with Chandler really well ! ).

And guess what, even Bugs Bunny is an ENTP. Lol...

May and June were months in which I got delirious with vampires. I started off with Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series. The books which I read are :

- Interview with the Vampire

- The Vampire Lestat

- The Queen of the Damned

- The Tale of the Body Thief

- Memnoch The Devil

- The Vampire Armand

- Merrick

- Blood and Gold

Among these the ones which I liked the most were The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned. The others are good reads nonetheless.

After the 8th book I decided I needed a break from blood and fangs and the first book I chanced upon was I Am Legend by Richard Mathieson. And guess what, I got stuck with vampires again. In the book, the entire human race is affected by a plague that turns them into vampire like creatures. The protagonist is Robert Neville who is immune to this virus. Mathieson weaves a tense and riveting horror story and I especially liked the twist in the end. The utter despair and loneliness of Neville, who believes he is probably the last man on earth, really strikes a chord within you.

I also read Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C Clarke and also another Anne Rice novel, Ramses the Damned. Ramses the Damned wasn’t impressive and it seemed rushed and pointless.

Monsoons..

The monsoon showers have just reached a fever pitch here at home. One of my crazy habits, which I practice dutifully, is walking in the rain without a care in the world. And here I am, wistfully, watching it pour. That’s because I have this bloody cold and a slight temperature. So I’m content to watch from afar.

My computers got a virus that pokes its head up whenever I go online. Sure iv got an anti-virus with all the latest updates and stuff. It gives off a police siren when it finds the bloody critter and deletes it. But what do you know, within 10 minutes it sneaks back in and the whole siren and delete process continues. I’m feeling too lazy now to go take care of it now.

And so here I sit on the front porch of my home, inches away from the rain, typing on my mobile with music in my ears. I love it...
